There is a long history of beverages that claim to be hangover-free, unfortunately most of them are still capable of causing a hangover. A new product is on the scene that may actually deliver: marijuana wine. We know, now you have questions. Is it legal? Is it good? Will it give me a hangover? Let’s take a closer look.
Rebel Coast Winery is a California based operation that recently released America’s first wine infused with cannabis. This particular bottle of wine contains no alcohol and four milligrams of THC per glass. Since the average cannabis consumer considers 10 mg to be a single serving, most people will be able to enjoy several glasses of this wine without adverse effects. This also means that, since there is no alcohol, this wine will not give you a hangover.
According to Rebel Coast, the wine tastes like cannabis, lemongrass, lavender and citrus and contains about 35 calories per serving. Their website describes the experience of consuming their wine in an accessible way, saying that “…after one glass you won’t be thinking your couch is a hippo with short legs or anything. We set out to mimic the experience you’d find with traditional wine; a couple glasses will put most people in a great place.”.
If you are interested in trying this wine, it’s gonna cost you. And you better hope you live in the right state! Since this is a cannabis product, you must live in a state that has legalized cannabis to be able to consume it. As of December 2017, that means that this wine will be available in Alaska, California, Maine, Colorado, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Washington, DC and for medical use in 29 additional states.
Currently the only version of this wine that is available is a sauvignon blanc, but Rebel Coast Winery has expressed interest in releasing a rose and a sparkling wine in 2018.
